Features:
  • Scale/movement - The Star Wars galaxy is a big place. Supremacy doesn't disappoint, with about 200 planets to be fought over. Hyperspace jumps are no longer limited to adjacent planets either - be as daring or cautious as you like, but longer jumps
  • Construction - Before you can even build anything on a planet or have orbiting shipyards, you need to ship the requisite construction base from an already established planet. Once you've done that, then you can start building other facilities to create a military and fleet.
  • Supply maintenance - Each army, structure or fleet unit needs supplies (and if applicable) spare parts for repairs as well as construction. Obviously a Death Star is going to need supplies from multiple planets worth of production just to build it, never mind maintenance. Mines and refineries are needed to provide these, and obviously not all planets are equal (Coruscant is more valuable than Yaga Minor for instance).
  • Planetary bombardment - Not only can you bombard planets with your fleets, the results are calculated based on the ship strengths (obviously the infamous Imperial Star Destroyer is a lot more damaging than most others) and the toughness of the planetary shields (if any). Provided a strong enough shield has sufficient supply maintaining it, it is possible to hold off some fleets indefinitely. Ion cannons and planetary laser batteries counter orbiting attack fleets. Naturally the Death Star has no problem defeating shields
  • Subterfuge politics - This is where things can get interesting. The Empire tends to be less popular than the Rebel Alliance, for obvious reasons - planets tend to defect to the rebels to begin with. Of course you can quell uprisings with various agents, or simply smash them with brute force (which will simply increase the chance of future rebellions). Maintaining a strong ground and space force is essential for the Empire to retain control over a planet. Blowing up enemy facilities is possible depending on who you send - a Noghri master assassin tends to be more effective than faceless Stormtrooper commandos.

Editorial Reviews:
Synopsis
- Strategy Gaming on an Epic Scale - Take control of either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire as you vie for the support of up to 200 worlds. The real-time environment will test your strategic mettle at every turn. - Comprehensive Resource Management - Strategic portion lets you manage manufacturing, resources, fleet deployment and mission assignments. - Innovative 3D Battle Simulation - Take complete command of fleets in dramatic battle sequences - almost a separate game in itself. - This product is marketed as Star Wars Rebellion in the US. Unit variety stats - Not only are there more units to utilize, but they all their individual status and effectiveness. A Star Destroyer can lose its engines and become stranded during a big battle, necessitating expensive repairs. Fighter squadrons need replenishing and all units need a steady flow of supplies to remain combat ready. Big guns like the Executor and Home One can be vulnerable to infiltration and sabotage. If you have nothing escorting your large warships, they can become expensive wrecks if a pack of Y-wings shows up. Key commanders like Admiral Piett and Admiral Ackbar greatly improve a fleet's speed between systems and their cohesion.
